This CADS program operates out of Snow Valley Resort near Barrie. Our program will begin on either Tuesday January 07, 2025, or the weekend of January 11/12, 2025, depending on availability. There will be one session on Tuesday evenings and three sessions offered on Sundays beginning January 12, two in the morning and one in the afternoon, times to be advised to participants.
Our students have a range of challenges – Paraplegia, Autism Spectrum Disorder, CP, Polio, MS, Down syndrome, and others – and are of all ages. Each student is screened to determine his or her equipment and instructional needs, and then matched with trained volunteer instructors and assistants.
The seven-week program of lessons, including any special equipment, is provided at a cost of $99. This cost does not include the mandatory CADS membership. CADS membership can be purchased/renewed here.
NOTE – Please contact the Program Director before purchasing your membership to ensure availability in the program.
HELMETS
Skiing has inherent risk and safety is our top priority. Helmets are required for all volunteers and students. They are available at Snow Valley Resort for a nominal charge.
VOLUNTEERS
We need your help! Our program relies on volunteers.
No prior experience necessary. You supply the enthusiasm and love of skiing, or snowboarding, and we’ll give you the training you need.
All Adaptive Instructors should be strong intermediate skiers or snowboarders.
All volunteers participate in training, starting with an orientation session on January 05, 2025.
All Volunteers will receive complimentary day passes for all program and training dates. These passes are provided through the generous support of Snow Valley Resort.
Volunteers are required to become a member of the CADS organization to participate – a $47 fee provides you with membership and insurance. CADS membership can be purchased/renewed here.
Please contact Ian at snowvalley@cadsontario.ca if you are interested in the fun and rewarding experience of teaching others to ski or snowboard.
