The program operates at the Heights of Horseshoe Ski Club for 8 weeks on Saturdays, starting the weekend after New Years. It provides support for persons who are physically and intellectually challenged. Hours of operation are from 9am until 3:30 pm. Skiers are matched with trained volunteer ski partners and supervisor/instructors provide formal instruction. Average ski session is 2 hours.
Lift tickets are provided to all skiers through the generous support of the Heights of Horseshoe Ski Club. All equipment (except for ski/poles*) and instruction are provided by CADS Heights of Horseshoe free of charge.
* Note: students using skis, boots and poles must supply their own equipment or rent at Heights of Horseshoe pro shop.
MEMBERSHIP
All skiers and volunteers are required to become members of CADS to participate and be properly insured. The cost is $47. Please contact the Program Director before registration to ensure availability.
VOLUNTEERS
All volunteers participate in training, starting with a dry-land training session in November, chairlift evacuation training in December and on-hill training in early January. During programs days, volunteers will usually work two 2-hour sessions depending on the number of skiers. The Heights of Horseshoe Ski Club generously provides volunteers with lift tickets for all program and on-hill training days.
